Environment

In 2016, in addition to our core commitment to environmental protection and stewardship in our operations, our environmental contributions totaled $3.5 million, of which more than $1.8 million supports programs and communities outside the United States.

ExxonMobil and Medicines for Malaria Venture provide malaria prevention programs.

Health

ExxonMobil invests in programs targeted at improving healthcare, mainly in the developing world, with a particular focus on combatting malaria.

Higher education

In 2016, ExxonMobil provided $43.9 million worldwide to colleges, universities and other organizations that support higher education. Of this amount, more than $39.4 million benefited higher education in the United States.

 

Pre-college education

Improving educational programs worldwide to enhance math and science skills is a priority issue for ExxonMobil.

Public information and policy research

ExxonMobil provides support to organizations that promote international relationships and understanding, institutions with strong research capabilities that contribute to informed policy decision-making, and organizations that assess public policy alternatives on issues of direct importance to the petroleum and petrochemical industries.

Women's economic opportunity

In 2016, contributions totaling $10 million were made in support of business development and micro-enterprise training for women in the developing world. 

Workforce development

In 2016, contributions totaling $3.9 million were made in support of vocational and entrepreneurial education.

United appeals and workplace giving

In 2016, ExxonMobil, together with its current and retired employees, donated $31.8 million through company-sponsored workplace giving campaigns and volunteerism in the United States, Canada and other countries.
